Spring Sandals

I’ve mentioned these already, but I must emphasize that these are a must for spring style! I finally got to try them on and they are even cuter in person.  Excellent craftsmanship, maximum comfort, and great flair for any warm weather look.

Spring Shopping Binge Continues…

My mom and sister came to visit me this weekend; it was gluttony at its finest. Three days of wining, dining, sleeping, and shopping.  Given my lifestyle the last few weeks I absolutely needed this break from working, schooling, and stressing.  Here are some of the top purchases for spring that we made in Georgetown, Bethesda, and Chevy Chase this weekend.

KORS Michael Kors Zaire Sandal

Available:  Bloomingdales, or Neimanmarcus.com, zappos.com, bloomingdales.com

Why they are great:  I’ve never been a fan of the overly elaborate gladiator style, so this streamlined design is chic and right up my alley; the tan and patent leather will match most anything in your spring and summer wardrobe.  Plus, I took advantage of the bloomingdales promotion and got $50 off!

Joie Bergamot Romper

$258

I purchased this romper at Ginger Boutique in Bethesda, MD - however mine is white with a black design.  This romper fits exactly how a romper should - loose, easy, and drapey.

Also purchased an Amanda Uprichard number that looks similar to this hot pink dress.  Mine is a bright purpley-cobalt color that would look awesome on just about anyone.  My sister and I each picked one up at Cusp for $194.

I’ve been eyeing this Raina belt for almost a year now and was elated when I found it ON SALE at Petra Boutique in Bethesda for over 50% off.  No brainer.  I picture myself wearing it with the AU dress pictured above, for starters.

Take [Front] Cover

This spring’s shoes are all about covering the front of the foot - be it with a t-strap, crossed straps, or a caged design.  Today and tomorrow we’ll feature flats and heels that incorporate this fun trend.

Take [Front] Cover Part 2

Elizabeth and James
Woven Leather Sandal
$225
www.saksfifthavenue.com

Rock & Republic
Lauren Strappy Sandal $275
www.revolveclothing.com

I love cross straps on sandals because the v makes them a bit more flattering to the leg than a strap that cuts straight across the ankle, leg, or foot.

Ash Hot High Heel Strappy Sandal
$150 (on sale!)
www.shopbop.com

Dolce Vita Incenio Suede Sandals
$132
www.shopbop.com

I’m a sucker for tan suede and Dolce Vita makes a great sandal (I’m obsessed with their
Ideeli Sandal
 I purchased for spring).

Dolce Vita Talia Fisherman Sandals
$184
www.shopbop.com

These remind me of a great pair of shoes done by Michael Kors about four years ago.  If you need the height or want to lengthen your legs, these will do the trick.

Request: Bridesmaid Shoes

So I have to find shoes for my dress for an upcoming wedding and they have to be silver heels. I want to get nice shoes that I’ll actually wear again, but I don’t know what to get. I love your blog and I thought maybe you could help.

Hi there!  We would love to help.  Thank you for reading and loving Pretty Polished!  You are our first message request via tumblr so we are quite excited. We assume you’re in this wedding and erred on the more conservative shoe side, but if we missed the mark, let us know and we’re happy to provide more options!

Kate Spade Maribet Silver Snake Print
$298
Zappo’s

A very classic, sweet sandal.  These were the bridesmaid shoes for a wedding that WH was in.

Kate Spade Charm
$325
Kate Spade

These might be too much of a “statement” shoe for a bridesmaid outfit, but if you have a particularly free spirited bride, these are quite fun.

KORS Michael Kors Sasha Sandal
$225
Pewter are at Shopbop
Metallic Mix are at Michael Kors

These are a bit more on the trendy side but I think you’d wear them long past the wedding.

Badgley Mischka Humbee II
$200
Piperlime

If you like the look and feel of a Jimmy Choo pump, but not the price, these Badgley Mischka’s are a good substitute.

Ivanka Trump Doublet
On sale for $100

Piperlime

These also look like the classic Jimmy Choo sandal, minus the price tag.

If you want to splurge, we think Jimmy Choo’s are the best option for silver.  Their silver, rather metallic leather in general, is pretty much unbeatable. Plus you’ll have these for years.  Here’s a pretty pair of slingbacks on Bluefly

And here is a pair of platform pumps at Nordstrom:

Jimmy Choo Crown Pump
$695

Nordstrom

Jimmy Choo D’Orsay Pumps
$495
Saks

These are our favorite splurge.  LW got these as a gift and can testify to 1) their beauty and 2) their comfort.  It was probably the first wedding where the shoes did NOT come off on the ride home.  These are not available online at Saks anymore, but if you call around to the stores I know they are still carrying them.  Mine came from Troy, MI.  (Available in silver and gold so be sure to specify the color).

Jimmy Choo also makes a variety of strappy sandals in silver if you are wanting something even more delicate.

The hunt for a non-boring flat sandal

Sometimes we want to spice up our sandal wear by throwing in some intricacies like woven cords or leather perhaps.  I’m always looking for fun flats for the day (or a casual night) so that I don’t look boring in a basic sandal while still being comfortable.  Here are some fun options I’ve found on my search.

1. Kate Spade Isabella Woven Sandal - $160 (was $225)

I can’t believe I am saying this but these might replace my go-to Jack Rogers for Summer 2011…I SAID IT.  These come in gold or graphite.

Available at Neiman Marcus

2.  DV by Dolce Vita Dugan - $69

Love the price of these and the satin ropes intertwined with the metallic rope.  Gold or silver.

Available at Piperlime

3.  Seychelles Box Set - $60 (was $75)

These are are a more delicate version of the Dolce Vita Idalia that we love for those that may want something simpler. They also run a size large.

Available at Piperlime in Gold or Zappos in black, gold or tobacco

4.  Modern Vintage Shy - $198

Even the back of these have an intricate woven detail.  A great neutral option.

Available at Shopbop in taupe or brandy

5.  Loeffler Randall Gioa - $275

I saved the best for last.  I’m currently on the waitlist for these and I love love love them.  Nordstrom has them in that great orchid color to spice up a neutral outfit.  They also come in a black and metallic combo but I’ll show just how patient I am for the natural.

Available at Loeffler Randall or Zappos

Amusement Park Apparel

WH

I am going to Disney World this weekend.  Why, you ask?  Because my boyfriend is great and came up with this idea. What is not so great is how hot Florida gets in the summer so my apparel for the weekend needs to be super light and breathable but cute at the same time.  The following are options for when you need some cute casual wear that will keep you cool on those ridiculously hot summer days.

C&C California Shirred Tie Waist Dress - $98

Splendid Skinny Navy Stripe Dress - $98

Soft Joie Denim Dress - $128

I love the color of this one!

Splendid Ditsy Flower Tank Dress - $108

Lush Pleated Hem Dress - $45

This necklace is stupid but the dress is cheap and comes in a ton of fun summer colors.

Also, an amusement park requires my shoes to stay on my feet.  I have these Loefflers from a few seasons ago in a rose gold metallic leather and they are so so comfortable to walk around all day in.

Loeffler Gioia Sandal - $137

These are too cute and are on sale at Nordstroms.

I’ll keep everyone posted on what I choose to pack as well as how many turkey legs I see get eaten in a 48 hour period.

A look toward Indian Summer begins…

by Lauren

Cocobelle Morena Sandals

$150

It seems that the passing of the July 4th holiday shifts the shopping focus to items that can nicely transition from summer to early fall.  So we’ll probably be pointing that out a lot.  These sandals, for example, would do well for your Indian Summer.
